Coronavirus Update

The music industry is known for its huge popularity from big audiences and live shows, and as soon as the seriousness of the outbreak became a global pandemic the industry had to act quickly.

Many of this years major festivals, gigs and tours have been thrown into doubt as the world is on pause for the foreseeable future with the government extending lockdown for an extra week and some sources claiming the country could still have to be in lockdown until a cure is found and with no cure yet to be found theres no time for when the world resumes. As such, I’ve looked at how the music industry has been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and what it’s doing to keep supporters entertained whilst they practice self-isolation and social distancing. The most surprising information is, Music Business Worldwide found that global streams from Spotify’s Top 200 chart dropped over 10% to 226 million plays in the week from March 13 is significant to note as this is when a number of countries around the world followed the rest of the EU’s lead and began shuttering shops, bars and closed colleges, schools and nurseries, forcing people to practice social distancing and stay indoors.

Because of the nature of coronavirus, and the way it spreads, it puts concerts, festivals and large gatherings at severe risks from going ahead and they were the first events to be officially postponed until 2021 or cancelled following the pandemics. but it's not all bad news for upcoming singers/songwriters in the music scene at this moment in time as Apple is giving its customers 90 days free access to both Final Cut and Logic Pro ignorer to encourage people staying at home and who are interested in improving their creative skills during the outbreak to get editing and producing visual and audio content.
